Terry Morris Allen, 85, passed peacefully at 10:45 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2023 at Willow Rose in Jerseyville. Born August 24, 1937 in Independence, MO, he was the son of Fredrick and Jean (Terryberry) Allen. He served four years in the Navy before finishing his Bachelor's degree and later received his Master's degree from SIU-E. On January 8, 1982, he married the former Linda Beluin in Granite City. Terry retired from the State of Illinois where he worked in labor relations and personnel at AMHC. Following retirement, Terry volunteered for Hospice, Project Read, and Lewis and Clark Historic Site.
Terry was a kind, gentle man who had a zest for learning. He loved reading books, traveling, being in nature, listening to music and spoiling his dogs. He was loving and supportive to his wife for 42 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda, a daughter, Heather (Brad) Cooper and a son, Christopher (Sandy) Allen, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The service will be held at LoveJoy United Presbyterian Church in Wood River on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time memorial service at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon provided by the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the 5A's Animal Shelter or to the LoveJoy United Presbyterian Church. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
