Dateline: Godfrey

Steven Douglas Young, 56, died at 3:40 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at his home. Born February 27, 1960 in Alton, he was the son of the late Thomas D. and Kathryn P. (Gilmore) Young. Mr. Young served in the U.S. Army and worked in the maintenance department at the Godfrey Schnucks for over 15 years. Surviving is a brother, James "Jim" Young (Susie) of Godfrey, two sisters, Marianne Weiland (Dave Wahle) of Alton, and Carolyn Main (Larry) of Port Charlotte, FL as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas "Dave" Young Jr. and Greg Young. A memorial visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton followed by full military honors by the VFW Post 1308.
