Steven Paul Van Allman, 59, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013 at St. Louis University Hospital. Born January 29, 1954 in Alton, he was the son of Don and Eileen (McClintock) Van Allman. Along with his parents, he is survived by four children: Sarah Smithton, Jacob Van Allman, Krystal Coggins and Jesse Van Allman, three sisters and their spouses, Linda (Steve) Minor of Dow, Lisa (Kerry) Scoggins of East Alton and Lora (Jay) Meckles of Godfrey, and a brother Sam Van Allman of Alton. He was preceded in death by a brother Scott Van Allman and a sister, Laura Van Allman. Steve loved to fish, play games and made friends wherever he went. He was very proud of his service in the U.S. Army. In his memory, donation may be made to Project Hero, St. Patrick Center, c/o Chris Figura, P.O. Box 952449, St. Louis, MO 63195. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the team of doctors and nurses at St. Louis University Hospital for their compassion and kindness. Burial will be private. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
