Shirley H. Davis, 79, died at 5:55 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. Born April 10, 1932 in East Alton, she was the daughter of Harry and Hazel (Vanausdoll) Hunt. She worked in the physical therapy department at Alton Memorial Hospital and attended Cherry Street Baptist Church for many years. She married Donald A. Davis on November 18, 1950 in Alton. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1995. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Doug Anderson of Alton and Janet and David Jacoby of Godfrey, a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Dale Davis of Grays Lake, IL, a son Mike Davis of Ash Grove, MO, a daughter-in-law, Kathy Davis of Gillespie, 11 grandchildren, Matt (Emily) Anderson, Zachary (Amanda) Anderson, and Sarah Anderson, Christopher (Erin) Davis, Michael Davis, Derek Davis and Sam Davis, and Lauren Jacoby and her fiancé Eric Borman, Renee Jacoby, Alexandra Jacoby, and Erin Jacoby, 4 great grandchildren, Gage and Logan Anderson, Keagan Anderson, and Elizabeth Anderson, many nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law, P.J. Ketchmark, and Barbara Hunt . She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Donald J. Davis. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Paul Militzer will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
