Shirley J. Callahan, 82, died at 12:55 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Bethalto Care Center in Bethalto. Born December 27, 1932 in Alton, she was the daughter of Shirley Ray and Ruth (Baldwin) Crane. Mrs. Callahan was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church in Alton and loved antiquing. She retired as mailroom manager for Butler Binoin Law Firm in Houston, TX. On June 6, 1952 she married William E. Callahan in Indiana. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1971. Surviving is a daughter, Cindy Kilkenny and her husband Jim of Florissant, MO, a son, Scott Callahan and his partner Kevin Balster of Rosewood Heights, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one brother, Don Crane of Godfrey, and one sister, Virginia Taylor of East Alton. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ray "Sonny" Crane, and two sisters, Lee Cross and May Leone. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be private.
