Dateline: Alton



Rose Mary Shanks, 79, died at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at V.I.P. Manor in Wood River. Born February 12, 1931 in Alton, she was the daughter of Mortin S. Hauhe and Emma M. (Winters) Irby. She was a member of the Salvation Army Citadel. On February 11, 1957 in Alton, she married Edward Shanks. He preceded her in death on January 6, 1998. Surviving are three nieces, Christine K. Jacobs, Vicki Obermiller and Judith Stock, four nephews, E. Floyd Dutch Hauhe, Ronald Hauhe, Roland Hauhe and his wife Linda and Danny Hauhe and his wife Linda. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Thomas, Floyd and Howard Hauhe and two sisters, Ella Mae Donaldson and Lucille F. Jacobs. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Captain Randy Tooley will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to the Alton Salvation Army.
