Ronald E. "Ron" Mead, 83, died at 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at his residence in Godfrey. He was born August 23, 1937 in Ridgeway, IL the son of the late Eugene June and Mildred "Lavern" (Sauls) Mead. Ron served four years in the United States Marine Corps. He was the owner/operator of Leary and Mead Concrete Construction which he began in 1966, retiring in 2000. He was a big part of many subdivision developments throughout the Godfrey Riverbend area. Ron was a mentor, friend and help to many men throughout his career. Although our hearts are heavy, legends never die, his vision, hard work ethic and commitment endures. On August 12, 1983 in Carrollton, IL he married Diane M. Goss and she survives. Also surviving are one son, Virgil Mead (Marcy) of Brighton, two daughters, Sherry Tite (Richard) of East Alton and Sharla Withers of Stuart, FL, eight grandchildren, Michelle Albright (Tim), Chelsea Weber (TJ), Ashley Tite, Courtney Fister (Jesse) Megan Yates (Ryan), Jordan Tite, Colleen Pippins (Josh), Ryan Withers (Kayla), seventeen great grandchildren, ten brothers and sisters in law, Addie Mead, Wallace Goss, Sharon Rensing (Leroy), Bob Goss (Elaine), Larry Goss (Mary), Denny Goss (Mely), Mary Jones (Randy), Donnie Goss (Jane), Debbie Kruse (Kink) and Theresa Goss. He was preceded in death by one son, Kenny Heater, one brother, Paul "Jack" Mead and one brother in law, Kevin Goss and one sister in law, Marie Goss. A celebration of life service will be scheduled for next spring. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
