Ronald Eugene Lewis, 67, died at 1:29 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at his residence. He was born December 18, 1949 in Wood River, IL the son of Eugene Lewis of Alton and the late Betty Jane (Allsman) Lewis. He was a machine operator for fourteen years with Owens IL Glass in Alton. He later went on to work in maintenance for Alton Mental Health retiring in 2007. He was an avid golfer and loved the Cardinals and was a member of Alton VFW Post 1308 Auxiliary. On December 12, 2003 in Alton he married Jeana (Carstens) and she survives. Also surviving are one son, Mike Lewis (Natalie) of Hartford, IL, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard A. Lewis. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Pastor Randy Butler Officiating. Burial will be private at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to Alton VFW Post 1308.
