Dr. Roland Edward Schoenborn, 82, died at 1:37 AM Sunday, November 6, 2011 at his home. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of Reinhold and Lydia (Lother) Schoenborn. He served in the US Air Force in the US and overseas from 1949 to1953. On June 13, 1958 in Alton, he married the former Veronica Elder. She survives. Also surviving are three children, twins, Robin Schoenborn and Tracy McCranie, both of Los Alamos, New Mexico, Renee Schoenborn of Houston, Texas, and two grandchildren, Stephen McCranie and Kaitlyn McCranie. He retired as a self-employed chiropractor and was a member of the First Unitarian Church in Alton. Roland volunteered at Alton's Food Crisis Center and Friends of the Library. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2011 at the First Unitarian Church in Alton. Reverend Khleber Van Zandt will officiate. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to Friends of the Hayner Public Library District (HPLD) or the First Unitarian Church. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
