Roberto Lopez Sr., 93, died at 9:22 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born May 20, 1929 in Williamsburg, MO, he was the son of Macario and Lidia (Hickman) Lopez. Mr. Lopez was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton and retired as an accountant for The Bank of Mexico. He married Alicia Urbina in Mexico City, Mexico. She preceded him in death on July 7, 1998. Surviving are three daughters, Rosalinda Vences (Jaime) of Springfield, IL, Marisela McGowen (Eldon) of Alton, and Koko Poole (Don) of Godfrey, four sons, Roberto Lopez Jr. (Graciela) of Alton, Ignacio Lopez (Claudia) of Alton, Martin Lopez of St. Louis, MO, and Edgar Lopez (Nuri) of Alton. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers. Private graveside services will be held at Upper Alton Cemetery.
