Robert David Poore, 75, died at 2:39 p.m. Monday, October 2, 2023 at his home in Godfrey. Born August 22, 1948 in Hardin, IL, he was the son of Elmer L. and Verna Lea (Weaver) Johnson. He served in the U.S. Army. Robert worked as a loader for Pepsi-Cola and as office manager for Waymore Power. On October 30, 1980 he married Toni Bock in Alton. She survives. Along with his wife Toni, he is survived by a daughter, Myrtle "Taffy" Ditzenberger (Dwaine) of Indiana, five sons, David Garrett of Godfrey, Spencer Garrett (Julie) of Piasa, Donald Garrett (Shelly) of Brighton, Francis Garrett (Chris) of Godfrey, and Jack Garrett of Pickneyville, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Mark Johnson of Alton, and two sisters, Brenda Hines (Delbert) of Kemper, and Sandy Monroe of Alton. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sons, Ray "Beaver" Garrett, Steven Brady Garrett, and Thomas Edward Garrett, a brother, Gregory Johnson, and a sister, Shirley Wickers. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Greg Bock will officiate. Memorials may be made to the family.
