Phyllis J. Thurm, 82, died at 6:41 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born November 18, 1929 in Alton, she was the daughter of Estelle and Mary (Smith) Smith Sr. She retired as bank manager of Wedge Bank after over 20 years of service. She loved to play bingo and was an avid Cardinal baseball fan. In 1956 she married William Soltermann. He preceded her in death in 1964. She later married Donald L. Thurm who preceded her in death on 1985. Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Connie Soltermann of East Alton, one granddaughter, Casey Soltermann of Bunker Hill, and a brother, Eldon Smith of Alton. She was preceded in death by a brother, Estelle Smith Jr. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Reverend Steve Rice will officiate.
