Patricia Y. Reed, 74, died at 2:00 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012 at her daughter's residence. Born May 22, 1937 in Hardin, IL, she was the daughter of Henry and Dora (Hegger) Darnell. She was a cashier at Marquette Catholic High School and also a cosmetologist in the Alton area for many years. She was a member of the U.S. Golfers Association. On July 15, 1989 she married Robert Reed. He survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Michelle Burger of Bethalto, a grandson, Kyle J. Fleshman, a brother, George Darnell of Wapella, IL, and a sister, Charlotte Kearby of Kampsville. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Burger, two sisters, Dorothy Zirges and Joan Borror, and a brother Charles Darnell. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to the 5A's Animal Shelter.
