Oleta B. Garvin, 100, died at 5:08 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Granite City Nursing & Rehab. Born September 14, 1911 in Jefferson County, IL, she was the daughter of Bert and Stella (Clark) Greene. On October 17, 1931 in Edwardsville, she married Coy Garvin. He preceded her in death in 1971. Surviving is a son-in-law, Jim Kogel of Godfrey, two brothers, Marion Greene and his wife Wilma of Alton, and Everett Greene of Alton, a niece, Betty Rodgers and her husband Charlie of Alton and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her adopted daughter, Martha Kogel, and a sister, Venita Ogle. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Kevin Shaw will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to the Metropolitan Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
