Nicholas Joseph Adams, 27, died at 5:18 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was born January 3, 1990 in Hillsboro, IL the son of Anita (Purcell) Adams of East Alton and Larry Adams of Hillsboro, IL. He enjoyed music and listening to the police scanner and won several medals for the special Olympics in weightlifting. In addition to his parents he is survived by one brother, Eric Adams and one sister, Autumn Horner, his maternal grandfather, Frank Purcell, and his aunts and uncles, Scott and Trish Bryant, Joe and Beverly Stepanek, Mike and Cindy Purcell, Norma Jeane Hoggett, Gilbert Agee, Rhoni Rouse, Randy Garwood, and countless cousins and friends that will miss him deeply. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Patricia Purcell, grandparents, Linda and Jerry Garwood, and great grandparents, Lorraine and Herman Helfer. Memorials may be made to the family. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2017 with Reverend James Overbey officiating.
