Mildred "Millie" Garland Evans, 87, passed away at 4:18 p.m., Friday, March 9, 2012 at University Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born June 9, 1924 in Schram City, IL to the late Roy and Verna (May) Garland. On February 1, 1947 in Alton, IL she married James D. Evans and he preceded her in death on January 4, 1990. She was a self-employed beautician in Alton for 42 years retiring in 1984. She is survived by her daughters, Debra K. Shutt and Kathy Cadmus. She has four grandchildren; Ryan J. Shutt and his wife, Christa; Kay Lynn "Katie" White and her husband, Joe; Jamie and Jessica Cadmus; one great-grandson, Samuel Lowe and four step-great grandchildren; Chelsey, Tyler, Tristan and Devin; one brother, Jack Garland and his wife Betty. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her sisters, Margie Rhodes and Jean Galliher Visitation will take place from 5:00 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at GENT Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday with Reverend Andre Dobson to officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
