Michael Paul Hurley, 78, died at 12:36 a.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at OSF St. Anthony's in Alton. He was born August 15, 1947 in Alton, the son of the late Paul Hurley and Frances (Trout) Holbrook. Michael served in the US Marine Corp and was the owner of Hurley Tile and Marble. He is survived by the Dad who raised him, Bill Holbrook of Godfrey, one daughter, Shannon Heidbreder (Mike) of St. Louis, MO, one son, Sean Hurley of Maryland Heights, MO, five grandchildren, Tyler, Tanner, Sean Jr., Kyle and Nicholas, three great grandchildren, Gabriel, McKenna and Rowan, one brother, Jim Hurley of Alton, two sisters, Cindy Batson (Chris) of Troy, MO, and Susan Nave (David) of Grafton. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, John Holbrook. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Graveside services will be Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
