Michael Ray Gurley, 41, died at 6:04 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on July 21, 1972 in Alton, IL the son of James H. and Alice L. (Basden) Gurley. He was a handy man and could fix most anything and was always available to help his family. He was very computer savvy and made himself available to repair and more, whenever necessary. His loving ways and his laughter brought smiles to everyone. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed more than he could ever recognize. He is survived by three daughters; Morgan Lansdon of Alton,IL Elizabeth and Trinity Gurley of Newton, IL, one son: Ethan Gurley of Staunton, IL, his mother; Alice Gurley of Bethalto, IL, two brothers; Jeff and Don Mouser of Enterprise, AL, one sister; Lisa Lyerla, one niece; Myranda Lyerla and one nephew; Kenneth Lyerla (KJ) all of Bethalto, IL, a loving Aunt; Shirley Aud of Ashland whom he saw as a second mother and held a very close relationship with as well as her immediate family; Robin Waters and daughter Alexa Waters, Eric and Erica Aud. He was preceded in death by his father; James H. Gurley. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, IL.where Funeral services will also be held at Gent Funeral Home on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Michael Paddock to officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to Gift of Hope, 425 Spring Lake Drive, Itasca, IL 60143-2076.
