Marylin McHatton Ward, 68, died at 1:26 a.m. On Friday, May 17, 2013 at her residence. She was born November 12, 1944 in Alton the daughter of the late Vincent and Theron (Knight) McHatton. She retired after 36 years as activity therapist for the Alton State Hospital. She was a member of Word and Sprit Church in Alton. On November 5, 1980 she married Bruce Ward they had 33 great years together before she went to be with her Lord and Savior, after several years of battling her sickness. She is survived by one son; Jeffrey Scott, two daughters; Savannah Scott and Brenda Jackson (Danny) of Piasa, two step-daughters; Sherrie (David)Brooks, Christy (Marty) Steele, seven grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, two brothers; Dick (Carol) McHatton, Joe (Gail) McHatton, one sister in law; Sandy Vera (Ralph). She was preceded in death by one granddaughter; Kimberly Scott, one sister and brother in law; Margie and Jerry Carpunky. She will be sadly missed by friends and family. She proudly served her Lord and Savior God bless you in your new life. Visitation will be Sunday, May 19, 2013 from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Terry McKinzie to officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to Alton Memorial Hospital Transitional Care Unit.
