Mary V. Sheff, 86, died at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton. Born January 22, 1928 in Alton, she was the daughter of Charles W. and Edna A. (Sherfy) Hunter. She was a member of Abundant Life Christian Church in Alton. On June 23, 1984 she married Leonard A. Sheff. He survives. Also surviving are eight children, Nancy Maroon, Wanda L. Lettimore, Danny J. Tolle, Nicole Hamberg, Mark Sheff, Gail martin, Theresa Sheff, and Scott Sheff, several grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, June Splittorff and Charlene Kulenkamp. She was preceded in death by two children, Mary Lee Pyle and Christopher Sheff and numerous brothers and sisters. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Gerald Calloway will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to the Abundant Life Christian Church in Alton.
