Mary Margaret Bowen, 95, died at 7:20 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017 at her home. Born January 23, 1922 in Equality, IL, she was the daughter of Ira and Tessie (Graves) Pankey. On July 20, 1944 she married Harry Bowen. He preceded her in death on September 1, 1984. Mrs. Bowen was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and the American Legion. She loved her grandkids, enjoyed being outdoors and enjoyed doing yard work. Surviving are two daughters, Kim (George) Janisch of St. Paul, MN and Mary Margaret Bowen of Godfrey, three grandchildren, Stephanie (Scott) Stelter, Amber Janisch, and Valerie (Steve) Gervais, six great grandchildren, Kasey Loftus, Allie Gervais, Gavin Stelter, Julie Gervais, Jasper Gervais and Olivia Janisch, one sister, Edith Pankey of Eldorado, IL and two nephews, Tom and Jim Lasley both of Naples, FL. Services will be private. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
