Lee Roy Settles Jr., 83, died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, December 8, 2016 at his home. Born September 28, 1933 in Alton, he was the son of Lee Roy Settles Sr. and Opal Christina (Hargiss) Settles. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1995 from the Alton Painters Union Local 471. On December 4, 1970 he married the former Martha Zielsdorf-Mueller in Alton. She survives. Also surviving are four children, two boys and two girls and three step children, two boys and one girl, two brothers, Walter Settles and Robert Settles both of Arizona and a sister, Carol Ogle of Wood River.
