John Murray Keene, 64, died at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Jefferson Barracks VA Hospital. Born June 23, 1954 in West Alton, MO, he was the son of Eugene and Stella May (Springer) Keene. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked as a welder in the the St. Louis area. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild, Katelyn Keene. Surviving are two daughters, Courtney Keene of O'Fallon, MO, and Amber Morten of Kirkwood, MO, four grandchildren, Kristen Keene, Elliott Walker, Gwendolyn Reeder, and Dominic Hauser. Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Yvonne Rose, Linda Abbott, Jessica Price, Fred Keene, Newton Keene, and Rose Kurz. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2019 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the First Church of God in West Alton, MO. Pastor Kelvin Lustick will officiate.
