John H. Allison Jr., 87, died at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2011 at Osage Beach Rehab in Osage Beach, MO. He was born May 31, 1924 in Hardin, IL the son of John H. and Florence (Badgley) Allison. He retired from Shell Oil in Wood River. He was a member of the VFW and The American Legion and The Piasa Ramblers Camping Club. On May 28, 1955 in Alton he married Norma May and she survives. Also surviving are three sons; John H. Allison III and his wife Sandy of Aliso Viejo, CA, Bruce Allison and his wife Kathy of Lake of the Ozarks and Matthew Allison and his wife Kimberly of Salt Lake City, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one brother; Donald M. Allison of Texas. He was preceded in death by one sister; Mildred Sharpe. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 at GENT Funeral Home with Father Steve Pohlman to officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with full military honors by VFW Post 1308. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.
