Jo Ann Helsley, 74, died at 12:45 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2014 at VIP Manor in Wood River. She was born January 23, 1940 in Alton the son of the late Henry C. and Doris (Pugh) Hurst Sr. On June 24, 1966 in Bethalto she married Raymond E. Helsley and he preceded her in death on February 11, 2005. She is survived by one daughter: Jennifer Jo Heinemeier (Larry) of Alton, three grandchildren: Allen Aldridge, Christopher Aldridge Jr. and Shane McGiffen, one brother: Henry "Bud" Hurst Jr. (Betty) of Carlinville. She was preceded in death by one brother: Donald Hurst. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday with Reverend George H. Humbert Jr. to officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Vets or the American Liver Foundation.
