Jimmie R. Russell, 76, went home to the Lord at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Willow Rose Rehab. and Health Care Center in Jerseyville. He was born December 30, 1941 in Camden, Tennessee to Fred and Vivian (Earp) Russell. He served in the US Army in the early 1960's and married Cecile (Wendy) Thompson September 21, 1968. He was employed at St. Louis Regional Airport in Bethalto and Lee-Rowan in St. Louis. He had a life long love of fishing and gardening, but his greatest love was his family.

Jimmie is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Wendy (Thompson) Russell, his five children Cheryl (Jamie) Reap of Third Lake, IL, Dan (Shelia) Russell of Fosterburg, IL, Dennis (Stacy) Dunn of Ranchester, WY, Steve Russell of Godfrey, IL, and Lance (Becky) Russell of Bowling Green Kentucky. 10 grandchildren Nicole, Sean, Tim, Victoria, Josh, Jacob, Bridget, Ryan, Casey and Emma, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon Monday, November 19, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Chaplain Mary Ann Lawrence will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens
