Janet K. McBride, 79, died at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. Born November 6, 1937 in Alton, she was the daughter of Vernon A. and Viola Isabelle (Neikirk) Rust. Mrs. McBride was a member of the Greater Alton Church in Rosewood Heights. She worked as a housekeeper and nanny for the McDonald family in Godfrey for many years and loved being a mail carrier in Fairmount. She married Harold F. "Mac" McBride. He preceded her in death on August 3, 2011. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and David Woodrum of St. Louis, MO, two grandchildren, Daniel and Christopher Florer, one brother, Gary Arnold Rust of Durham, NC, a niece, Wendy Rust of Glen Carbon and her beloved dog Buddy and furry grandkids, Sheba, Shadow and Bo. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Florer. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at he Greater Alton Church in Rosewood Heights. Reverend Tim Gill will officiate.
