James E. Cain, 71, died at 12:08 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at his home in Alton. Born May 28, 1944 in Cushing, OK, he was the son of Jacob and Juanita (Cargill) Cain. Jim was a hydrographic surveyor for Hanson Professional Services in Springfield, IL, KBA-Kenneth Balk & Associates and Metropolitan Engineering retiring in 2009. He liked to fish and camp at Mark Twain Lake and spend time with his grandchildren. On November 19, 1976 he married the former Frances Norris in Alton. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Sherrie Cain, a son, Richard Cain, a step-son, Jere T. Price Jr., three grandchildren, Justin (Carrie) Price, Nicholas and Jacob Price, one brother John Cain and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Gordon Cain. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2016. Reverend Steve Rice will officiate.
