James Nathan Adcock, 85, died at 6:34 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Jerseyville Manor. Born February 7, 1939 in Wood River, he was the son of Stanley and Kathryn (Smith) Adcock. Jim served in the Marine Corps Reserve and retired as a customer service engineer for IBM in St. Louis, MO. He enjoyed woodworking, golf, and music, including his time with The Troubadours. He married Mary Tempe and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Darcy Hunter (Steve) of St. Louis, MO and Marla Fischer (Ed) of Alton, four grandchildren, Patrick Read of St. Louis, MO, Jennifer Wittman (Nick) of Webster Groves, MO, Sarah Jimison (Casey) of Shawnee, KS, and Abby Fischer of St. Louis, MO, two great grandchildren, Lily and Olive Wittman, a sister, Karen Adcock of St. Louis, MO, and a nephew, Lee Adcock of Alton. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Annemarie Adcock, and two brothers, Nick and Charles Adcock. All services are private at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.
