Glenn A. "Bert" Williams Jr., 74, died at 6:33 a.m. Thursday, February 29, 2024 at OSF St. Anthony's Healthcare Center in Alton. Born January 26, 1950 in Dow, he was the son of Glenn A. Williams Sr. and Florence (Campion) Williams. He served with the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Godfrey. Bert worked summers at Eckard's Orchard and was a self-employed farmer in Jersey County for 30 years. In 2010 he retired as a truck driver. On August 9, 1980 he married the former Marcia Wilcox in Unadilla Forks, NY. She preceded him in death on March 15, 2017. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, April and Jake Hartnett of Alton, a son, Travis Williams of Godfrey, and three grandchildren, Owen Hartnett, Nora Hartnett, and Morgan Williams. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Tom Olney will officiate.
