Obituary

Georgian Hock, 83, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at her home in Alton. She was born on September 22, 1941 in Springfield, IL to Jesse (Steele) Maurer Antonacci and Serafino "Sorfie" Antonacci. She and her family were residents of Riverton, IL and she was a 1959 graduate of Riverton High School.
Georgian and her first husband, James Gutmann were the parents of three children: James (Maria), Daniel (Cindi), and Kathleen (Mike). Her second spouse, Harlan Hock, was the father of Kimberly Hock Major. Georgian's siblings preceding her in death were Robert, John and Rose Marie Maurer, and Betty, Doris, Marilyn and James Antonacci. Georgian was the eight and youngest child of a blended family.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Zachary (Rose), Andrew, Emily, Katie, Cole (Vanessa), Kyli Gutmann, Dennis Vahle (Amanda), Alishia Ufert (Spencer) and Victoria Major; great grandchildren, Lilian and Harlan Vahle, twins, Quentin and Summer Mims, Clara Ann, Francesca, Everett and Theon Gutmann.
Georgian and Harlan were both employed at Lewis and Clark Community College. Since he was the chairman of the music department, much of their life together was spent with his students, attending or performing in concerts or various other music events. Additionally, travel was always a large part of their life together. Surviving her are Harlan's many students, several nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Georgian said many times when she was older, "I never thought I'd live this long!" She and her husband have been cremated. There will be no formal funeral services. Her wish was for you to remember her in your own way and donate to your own favorite charity if you wish. They will be buried at Oak Hill Cemetery, Springfield, IL on old Rt. 36, a small cemetery close to her beloved hometown of Riverton.
