Genevieve Eileen Buckstrup, 91, died at 3:10 a.m. Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Rosewood Care Center. Born August 28, 1919 in Jerseyville, IL, she was the daughter of George and Fannie (Cope) Hooper. She worked as a ward clerk for St. Anthony's Hospital and was a member of Cherry Street Baptist Church. On September 18, 1937 in Alton, she married Kenneth Buckstrup. He preceded her in death on August 18, 1963. She was a loving wife and mother dedicated to the care of her family. Surviving is a daughter, Judy Crockett and her husband Tom of Lindenhurst, IL, two sons, Kenneth Buckstrup and his wife Sue of Linden, VA, and Gerald Buckstrup of Alton, four grandchildren, Kevin Buckstrup, Michelle Sutton, Colin Crockett, and Sarah Crockett. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother, Meda Cox, Bernice Jackson, and Lavern Hooper. A memorial visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2011 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be private at Upper Alton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to Gerald Buckstrup for his extended care.
