Gary Edgar Jenkins, 69, died at 1:33 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at St. Anthony's Hospital. Born December 8, 1942 in Alton, he was the son of Mattie Sue (Marshall) Jenkins Mosley and the late Edgar S. Jenkins. He worked for Federal Steel in East Alton for 34 years retiring in 2000 and was a member of the Abundant Life Community Church. He enjoyed photography and was a very good amateur photographer. On August 31, 1985 in Alton, he married the former Elizabeth Bruns. She survives. Also surviving are his children, James Jenkins (Kathy) of Washington D.C., and Rebecca Sherer (Andy) of Las Vegas, NV, a step-daughter, Penny Boedeker (Brian) of Godfrey, and a step-son, Kenneth Allensworth (Nicole) of Hughesville, PA, five grandchildren, Kenzie Allensworth, Faith, Paige, and Kaitlyn Boedeker, and Ian Jenkins, a brother, Glenn Jenkins (Brenda) of Grand Chain, IL, and a step-sister, Judy Fisher of Topeka, KS. He was preceded in death by his father and a step-father, Roscoe Mosley. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 at Abundant Life Community Church in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012. Reverend Sam Henning will officiate. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to the Hydrocephalus Association or a charity of choice. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
