Edward Edler Jr., 91, died at 7:04 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehab. Born June 7, 1924 in Marthasville, MO, he was the son of Edward and Clara H. (Sprick) Edler Sr. Mr. Edler served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ. He was a millwright for Laclede Steel and retired in 1985 after 35 years of service. He loved fishing, hunting and Cardinal baseball. On June 5, 1948 he married the former Evelyn Marie Hunn in West Alton, MO. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2008. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Barb Edler of Godfrey and Patrick and Janice Edler of Fosterburg. Also surviving is a brother and sister-in-law Clifford and Harriet Edler of West Alton, MO. Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbert and Lester Edler and his twin sister June Fahring. Per his wishes, he will be cremated and burial will be private.
