Edward Orval Hoekstra, of Godfrey, passed away on September 26, surrounded by his family. He was born March 23, 1951, to Orval and Lucile Hoekstra.
Edward was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He shared his life with his beloved wife, Mary Helen (Boland) Hoekstra, who preceded him in death last year.
He is survived by his daughters, Michelle Hoekstra and Amanda Hoekstra; his grandchildren, Kyle (Samantha) Hoekstra and Lillian Hoekstra; his great-grandchildren, Braylynn, Makailee, Wyatt, and Kylie; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Sharon Boland; and many other special family members and friends.
He loved driving his 1957 Chevy, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, and daydreaming about what he would build in his workshop.
He was the person his family could count on when something needed fixed or figured out.
He also had a sense of humor. Edward was always ready with a dad joke whether anyone asked for one or not.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Friday, October 2, 2026 at Gent Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Alton, Il, with cremation to follow visitation.
