Doris M. Roady, 86, died at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton with her family present. Born May 18, 1928 in Alton, she was the daughter of Charles H. and Ruby E. (McCoy) Scates. Mrs. Roady was a charter member and the longest living member of the North Alton Southern Baptist Church. On July 1, 1950 she married Virgil Roady. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2013. Surviving are two daughters, Karen Schremp (Lester) of Barnhart, MO, and Judy Hicks (Russell) of Dow, one son, Jim Roady (Carlotta) of Alton, eight grandchildren, Sara Price (Steven), Jason Schremp (Rachel), Valerie Combs, Jeremy Hicks, Charity Wilson (Tim), Jenesa Maggart (Anthony), Brandon Roady (Tiffany) and Ian Roady, 14 great grandchildren, Kody, Samantha and Jacob Lewis, Brianna, Elissa and Dalton Price, Alie and Anya Combs, Leah and Emily Maggart, Taylor Roady, and Jamysia and King Murphy, and a brother, Richard Scates of Fosterburg. She was preceded in death by her parents and a baby brother. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014. Reverend Sonny Renken will officiate. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the North Alton Southern Baptist Church.
