Dora M. Head, 93, died at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey. Born September 12, 1918 in Dorchester, IL, she was the daughter of William E. and Nancy A. (Lorton) Anderson. Mrs. Head was a member of the Community Christian Church in Godfrey. On September 11, 1938 in Edinburg, IL, she married G. Thomas Head. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1992. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy S. and "Butch" Kaus of Alton, two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Stephen A. and Carol Head of Lead, SD, and Thomas W. and Mitzi Head of Edwardsville, four grandchildren, Mark (Jackie) Head of Wildwood, MO, David (Laura) Head of Alhambra, Aaron (Sarah) Poindexter of Troy, MO, and Shannon Wittman of Jerseyville, and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew P. Poindexter, 8 brothers and 3 sisters. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2012 at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Reverend Elza Duniphan will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
