Donald Edward Ash, 85, died at p.m. Monday, July 16, 2012 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, in Effingham, IL. Born July 25, 1926 in Alton, he was the son of the late Lillian Amelia (Kunneman) Ash of Nameoki and the late Clyde Brice Ash of Alton. He served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific Theatre of World War II. Donald married Mary Helen Markham in 1967. He was a bricklayer for 40 years. He is survived by a son, Bryce Ash, of Effingham, IL, seven grandchildren, and a brother, John Ash of Alton. He was preceded in death by his wife, and a brother, Robert Ash. Private services will be held at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Bryce Ash will officiate.
