Delbert Eugene McDaniel, 81, took his last stroll down life's fairway at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville. Born October 15, 1930 in Carrier Mills, IL, he was the son of Loney and Pearl (Hudson) McDaniel. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1968. He served in Korea and Vietnam. His favorite hobby was golfing. On February 10, 1951 in Alton, he married Anna Jean Joyce. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Liz McDaniel Harry (Ted) of Belleville, a son, Lonnie E. McDaniel (Jayne) of Belleville, four grandchildren, Sara J. Stone (Aaron) of Lee Summit, MO, Thomas E. McDaniel (Trista) of Springfield, MO, Hannah Harry of Millstadt, and Nicholas Harry of Millstadt, one great granddaughter, Madison Diane Stone. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery. Reverend Carl Cook will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Heartland Hospice.
