David Lee Hellemeyer Jr. died at 9:58 am on Monday November 23, 2015 in Alton, IL.
David was born Jan. 2, 1954 in Wood River, IL to David Lee Sr. and Pauline Esther (Whittington) Hellemeyer.
David was owner/operator of Jade Screen Printing in Alton for over 20 years.
David met the love of his life, Ruthann Rives, in high school. They were married Oct. 7, 1972. They recently celebrated their 43rd anniversary.
David leaves many loved ones behind, including his wife, Ruthann, two daughters, Jennifer Huang and Stephanie Hellemeyer, three grandchildren, Megan Huang, Alex Huang, and Jack Hellemeyer. And a former son-in-law, Jim Huang. His grandchildren were the light of his life.
Also surviving is a brother, Steven Hellemeyer, and four sisters, Kimberly Nettleton, Karen Govero, Leslie Vannoy and Rebecca Hellemeyer.
David's joy in life was spent being a devoted and caring husband as well as a wonderful father and grandfather. Family was always his number one priority. His goal in life was to make sure his family knew they were loved beyond measure and he met this goal without fail. His love for those around him will be missed, but not forgotten.
David was preceded in death by his beloved parents.
Visitation for David was from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015. His uncle Rev. Lynn Spicer officiated. Burial was at Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton, IL.
