Daniel G. Earnhardt, 87, died at 2:30 a.m. Monday, December 26, 2011 at Alton Rehab. He was born July 26, 1924 in Granite City, IL the son of Daniel Roscoe and Alma (Hilmer) Earnhardt. He was retired from Granite City Steel. He was a member of Elm St. Presbyterian Church and VFW Post 1308 in Alton. On September 2, 1966 in Alton he married Florence Beulah Hewlett and she preceded him in death on August 6, 2010. Surviving are two daughters; Lana Meyer and her husband Tom of O'Fallon, MO. and Danna Atkins of Carson City, NV. , four grandchildren; Greg Meyer of Florissant, Stacey Meyer of Lake St. Louis, Jeff Atkins of Carson City and Jill Berntson of Carson City, two great-grandchildren; Houston and Sklyler Berntson. Visitation will be Friday, December 30, 2011 from 12:30 until time of funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at GENT Funeral Home with Reverend Janet Riley to officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with full Military Honors from VFW Post 1308.
