D. Lois Mitchell, 87, passed away suddenly on May 1, 2015 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born June 23, 1927 in Alton, she was the daughter of Elmer R. and Helen Page (Jackson) Mitchell. She graduated Alton High School and was employed at Owens Illinois Glass Company until retirement. Lois was an avid golfer and golfer in several of leagues. She especially enjoyed the Hillsboro Women's League yearly tournament. Lois is survived by two brothers, Robert R. Mitchell of Roswell, GA, and Roger P. Mitchell of Springfield, IL, a nephew, David Mitchell, and three nieces, Sue Ellen Mason, Deborah Searcy, and Kathy Beall. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend David Crowley will officiate. Burial will be private at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to Elm Street Presbyterian Church in Alton.
