D. Beatrice Elmore, 96, died at 1:57 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. Born March 27, 1917 near Cape Girardeau, MO, she was the daughter of Marion and Myrtle (Whittenburg) McDaniel. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in East Alton and worked as a cashier in the cafeteria in the East Alton Grade Schools. On November 1, 1944 she married Norman D. Elmore. He preceded her in death. Surviving are two daughters, Jacqueline (Elmore) Green of Alton and Sharon (Elmore) Taufer and her husband Allen, of Utah, a son, Larry D. Elmore of East Alton, three grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, and one sister. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 at the chapel at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Burial will follow the funeral service. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
