Cornelia M. Fohne, 85, died at 4:05 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2011 at Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey. Born April 16, 1926 in Mascoutah, IL, she was the daughter of Cornelius and Edmina (Jung) Vahlkamp. She worked as a cook for Blu-Fountain Manor for several years and was a lifetime member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. On May 23, 1945 in Mascoutah, she married Eldon G. Fohne. Together they served as foster parents for many years. Mr. Fohne passed away on April 24, 2000. According to her wishes, her remains were cremated and there will be no visitation or service. Private burial will be at a later date. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
