Clara M. Spooner, 90, died at 6:55 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born July 2, 1927 in Alton, she was the daughter of Glen and Florence (Atkins) Hewlett. Mrs. Spooner was a homemaker and loved shopping, traveling and fishing. In 1950 she married Charles William Spooner in Pittsfield, IL. He preceded her in death on January 1, 2001. Surviving is a daughter, Sharon Spooner of Alton, a son, William Ernest (Gale) Spooner of Raleigh, NC, two grandchildren, Jennifer Ann (Brett) Hanson and Brian William (Stephanie) Spooner, two great grandchildren, Katelyn Hanson and Rebecca Hanson, one brother, Glen Hewlett Jr. of Alton and one sister, Barbara Jean Windmiller of Godfrey. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Randy Butler will officiate.
