Charles Garcia Rodriguez, 67, died at 6:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 at his home in Alton. Born April 2, 1947 in Santa Barbara, CA, he was the son of Rosie (Garcia) Rodriguez of Santa Barbara, CA and the late Francisco Rodriguez. Mr. Rodriguez served in the U.S. Army and was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton. He was a Boy Scout Leader for his son in Troop 167 and a member of the Union Steward IAM in East Alton. In 2008 he retired as a Shop Steward with Olin after 18 years of service. On August 2, 1969 he married the former Mary Madison. She survives. Also surviving is a son Mike Rodriguez (Christina Tucker) of Wood River, four grandchildren, Mariah, Ricky, and Sofia Rodriguez and Jordan Tucker, one brother, Tony Rodriguez (Lynn) of Los Angeles, CA, three sisters, Josie Hernandez (Tony) of Lompoc, CA, Connie Rodriguez of Santa Barbara, CA, and Lydia Rodriguez of Ventura, CA. Services will be private. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
