Billie D. Brooks, 80, died at 1:28 a.m. Sunday, March 9, 2014 at St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton. Born March 3, 1934 in Enid, Oklahoma she was the daughter of the late Donald Charles Smothers and Nettie (Gibson). She was a homemaker and a former member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She married John Brooks on November 6, 1953 in Bell California and he survives. Surviving is one daughter; Debbie Boyd of Overland Park, KS and two sons; Donald Brooks (Barbara) of Brighton, IL and David Brooks (Sherrie) of Fosterburg, IL, six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, IL, with private burial at Rosehill Cemetery in Whittier, CA at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
