Betty J. Coffman, 69, died at 7:47 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024 at her home. Born June 28, 1954 in Alton, she was the daughter of Alfred and Gladys (Connoyer) Townsend. Surviving are her former husband, Frank Coffman of Granite City, two daughters, Kristene Coffman and Tina Metcalf and her husband Rick Metcalf, one son, Shaun Coffman, grandchildren, Christopher Coffman and his wife, Tyfanie, Bradley Coffman, Joshua Metcalf, Matthew Metcalf, Tabitha Metcalf, Thomas Coffman, Richard Bates, Crystal Bates and great grandchildren, Heidi Coffman, Averianna Coffman, Aurora Coffman, Jayden Coffman, Caleb Metcalf, Carter Metcalf, Mia Metcalf, Hailey Bates, Lexi Bates, Richard Bates Jr., Cheyenne Compton, Jaci Compton, Chad Metcalf, Sharli Edmonds, Skylar Stark. Also surviving are two brothers, Edward Townsend and Leonard Townsend. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Virgil, Gene, Richard and Melvin Townsend, and three sisters, Geraldine Foeller, Gayle Townsend, and Gloria Badolato.
