Bette J. "Jeanie" Lee, 65, died on a bright sunny day, at 9:12 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2012. Born April 11, 1946 in Carrollton, IL she was the daughter of Chester and Ruth (Atherton) Jouett. She worked for West Star Aviation at the St. Louis Regional airport in Bethalto for over 40 years and was looking forward to retirement within the next three years. Jeanie was passionate about her work and the people she worked with. A calm and gentle soul, Jeanie was a true Christian. Her life was her family and friends. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and loved her animals and grand animals. She was always able to light up anyone's day. She was married to Maurice Lee of Piasa for 18 years. He survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Ronda Lee of Alton, a son, Christopher Lee of Roxana, a granddaughter, Caitlyn Jean Lee, three sisters, Barbara Wollenweber of Jacksonville, IL, Ruth Hansan of Oklahoma City, and Donna Dotson of Texas, one brother, Larry Jouett of Wisconsin, a special cousin, Marilyn Jouett of Godfrey and a special daughter-in-law, Ann Henson. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2012 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Greenfield. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
