Dateline: Alton

Barbara A. Henderson, 72, passed away at 3:45 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2011, surrounded by loved ones, at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born March 1, 1938 in Galveston, Texas, she was the daughter of Donald Gill and Elizabeth (Minard) Brinkman. Henry Brinkman was her stepfather. On September 10, 1954 in Alton, she married Carl "Hank" Henderson. He survives. Also surviving is a step-mother, Frankie Dobrovolny and her husband Dick of Bedford, TX, a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Kathleen Henderson of Alton, a daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Ronald Parks of Greenville, IL, eight grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, a brother, Drew "Mick" Gill of Wichita, KS, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, a daughter, Kimberly Adler and three sisters, Donna Schexneider, Susan Harrison, and Patricia "Patty" Harris. According to the family's wishes, Barb's body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 14, 2011 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or to SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
